The Kitchen Sink

2 Chronicles 6:40 “Now, my God, I pray, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears be attentive to the prayers made in this place

Do you find yourself looking for a quiet moment in your busy day to pray?

You know a moment of uninterrupted bliss, where you could actually have a complete thought?

And “MOMMY” is not being said a million times in a row.

My day never goes as planned, there is always something that comes up.  I desire time to pray.  Not just before mealtime. Or the few seconds I ask Jesus to give me love in my heart before disciplining my kids.  I want to pray for these incredible gifts that God has given me.

 It sounds good when I plan it out in my head:

I will have time if I wake up early….and then so do the children.

I will have time during naps…everyone decides its Party Time!

I will have time after the kids go to bed…. literally, toothpicks to keep my eyes open!

But the one place that is consistent for me seems to be the kitchen sink.

It’s not my favorite place to be.  I don’t find myself skipping into the kitchen to conquer those dishes.

But I’m there.

Multiple times a day.

And this is where I find my time to pray.

  As I wash the unwanted food off of Isaiah’s racecar plate, I pray that he wants Jesus, I want him to fall so in love with His Savior.  Then I pick up Micah’s blue sippy cup, you know the one that he throws when he doesn’t get his way.  I pray that God will use that exuberance for His glory!  Next is the tiny spoon Ava tries to feed herself with.  I pray she is as determined to be a light in this dark world.

Dish by dish I pray.

My husband, my marriage, my worries, my fears, my wants, my needs, and my future.

Sure, I’m interrupted like a bazillion times.

But it works for me.

  Maybe for you its folding clothes, scrubbing those floors, or driving the car pool.

But find your “kitchen sink”!
