Simply suffering

When I hear people talk about suffering I think the worst circumstances. My mind takes me to a mother loosing her child, or a mass casualty incident taking the lives of many, or some unforeseen act of nature doing it's best to take out an entire city. What I don't think of is my poor, pathetic problems. I know how blessed I am and I can't even begin to compare my "trials" to the suffering of others.
With that being said moms, have you ever had one of those days?
Last week, the day after working a 12 hour shift, I began my day knowing I had too many things on my plate but would do the best I could with handling them. Well, I was late taking my kiddos to their 3 different schools due to the fact that my foster baby decided to gift me  a very long diaper change. This in turn made me late to his physical therapy appointment only to find out it was scheduled for the wrong day. She was able to squeeze me in which made me late for the back to back pediatrician appointment. Because I had to now wait 1.5 hours there I was now late picking my son up from school. After I got him I had to pick up something from my boss and as I parked and called her she admitted she had forgotten the very thing she was to bring me and so I had to wait another 30 minutes for her. I went home with 20 minutes to spare before I had to pick up my daughter and tried to eat when I got a call from my other daughter that she had forgotten her soccer shorts for the game an would I be so kind as to bring them to her. I had to drop off money at her school (she was no longer there) and then go pick up my other daughter. After that I raced over to the soccer game after reflecting her now many calls of "mom I really need my shorts". During the game my kids got injured playing and as we were leaving I decided I would NOT be cooking so I went to reach for my wallet which was no where to be found. I gave up and went home and as I pulled into the driveway my son got a plastic coin stuck in his teeth.....you read that right. So I went inside and after finally finding my wallet and getting the plastic coin loose we ate, I bathed the little ones (3 of them) and went to bed!!
The next couple of days, feeling thoroughly exhausted as I took on a makeover of a room in one day and other challenges, I kept hearing and seeing,  "When you find yourself suffering in the thick of battle call upon my name, 'Jesus help me' at that instant the battle becomes mine" I read/heard it 3 days in a row!! I questioned myself at that point, could this qualify as suffering? I certainly felt like I was but with all the suffering in the world I felt bad labeling my problems as that. God's word says:

For our struggle is no against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms- Ephesians 6:12

We need to remember Satan is slick. He wants to attack us with the big and he can get us with the little. Jesus is so much more powerful then anything satan can throw at us. Just calling on His name will take the load off of us and give it to him. Don't forget to call upon His name moms!

  1. You beautiful mom! All I could do was laugh and let the air out I had been holding as I read about your crazy day. No where did I see any sleep in there. I am tired for you and blessed by your true and encouraging words. Love you friend!
