My Foot Will Slip

Psalm 94: 18 – 19  "When I said, "My foot is slipping, your love, O Lord, supported me.  When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul."

As a friend posted this verse at the close of her email...I was encouraged.
I love how Jesus knows the condition of my heart and allows scripture to highlight it.
Three truths stuck out to me as I read the verse above:

(1) My foot WILL slip
As a mom it is so refreshing to know that I am not alone when I fall  & that others have too! The Lord knew I would need reminding of that so HE put it in the Word. Ladies remember that transparency births ministry. Sometimes we are afraid to share our struggles -in fear others will look at us differently. Truth is that when we allow our trial to strengthen another it is gives way to revival in our own heart. Don't allow pride to cause you to be quiet about where God has brought you. Share it with others.

(2) The Lord will SUPPORT me
If I bring my burdens before Jesus - He promises my load will be light. That He will carry the crazy for me. The Lord longs for us to seek Him out, in the slipping of our feet. Many times, as women, as moms, we take things into our own hands & forget to seek HIM out first. His Word can recharge you like no other. When you are "spent" and worn down - lay it all at His feet. There you will find rest. On those days you want to erase, take a "time-out" of your own & seek Him for wisdom and counsel. HE has much to say to us moms.

(3)Anxiety within - BROUGHT BEFORE HIM - will bring relief and joy
Fear creeps in so innocently until it completely takes over our mind. As a mommy, there are plenty of things to worry about but the Word declares that if I bring my baggage to Jesus I will find relief and joy. Satan whispers untrue thoughts into our minds and if we are not careful we can start to feel defeated. All the things we worry about with our kids can be cared for  on level ground when I obey and surrender then to Him.

Have you "slipped" as a mommy lately?

HE wants to support you!

What anxious thought needs to be brought before Him today so you may
experience relief and joy?

HE LOVES YOU MOMMY! HE SEES ALL YOU DO! Keep up
the good work! Don't give up! You ARE making an eternal impact
as you invest in the life of your little one.

PERSPECTIVE

PSALM 27:4
The one thing I ask of the Lord, The thing I seek most is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord's perfections and meditating in His Temple.

The Lord's house, The church, what a beautiful picture of grace, mercy, and love it can be! But if our perspective is skewed the picture can be more of a mess then the  masterpiece it was made to be. It may look like many people gathered together in one place to praise and worship our savior and do the works of His hand. Or it could be a picture of many hypocrites gathered to discuss the wrong doings of others. What is your perspective?

PSALM27:11
Teach me how to live Oh Lord. Lead me along the right path for my enemies are waiting for me.

While at a foster family picnic the other day I was surrounded by hundreds of kids and their new families. As I gazed around the array of different colors and ages my mind traveled to all of the heart ache each one of these children should not have had to endure. I began to tear thinking about the pain of each child, that is until the Holy Spirit knocked on my heart. I this I began to see a different picture, a beautiful one, of a church family and community coming together to love a care for children not born of them. I saw one big family of believers being the hands and feet of God! It was a beautiful picture!!

How about you? Do you have a heart of judgment or are you letting the Holy Spirit lead your heart and thoughts? I would encourage you pray about your perspective and give people the same grace, love, forgiveness, and mercy our Savior has extended to us!

Doing Life Together

Love one another
with brotherly affection.
Out do one another
in showing honor.
 - Romans 12:10 -

Tonight was fun! We had dinner on the beach with friends. The sun was setting, the kids were digging in the sand and swimming in the water, as the adults sat in a circle hanging out. Eating pizza and sharing about what our week entailed. Our families were doing life together. What we were created for...community.  As we drove back home, my husband and I both said we need to make that happen more often. It was refreshing for us, and for our kids too. Being with others is refreshing though!

Many times we get caught up in the busyness of life where we forget to include others in the journey with us. Don't let that happen. Make a plan. Make dinner. Ask another family/couple to join in on your plans. Allow another family to impact yours in a refreshing and reviving way. Ask Him to use you in the lives of your friends.

When was the last time you did "life" with another family?

Look for ways to include others on the  journey of life you're on.

Watch Him work, as you allow yourself to be used.

Who's Singing to Who?

Matthew 28: 6 & 7
"He is not here; He has risen
just as He said.
Come and see the place where He lay.  Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead...' "

Ever since the oldest of our children were small I would sing to them four lines or so of a particular hymn or children’s song.  The songs would come from somewhere deep in my childhood.

With Easter soon to be celebrated, I have already begun…
“Christ the Lord is risen today,
Hallelujah!
Sons of Men and Angels say,
Hallelujah!”
How blessed we are to know our Savior is alive and well and interceding for us!  How extra blessed we are to share this with our children!

Now that our two oldest are grown and have moved out they call and sing to me.  It is exciting to celebrate our Savior’s resurrection.  Start sharing the good news with your children by singing your favorite song or hymn.  You’ll be surprised to see how quickly they start singing back to you!!

More Grace

I found myself in bad place this week. My house was closing in on me; my family was closing in on me, the piles of schoolwork to file and correct were weighing on me.   My kids were fighting; school was taking hours longer than necessary because of it. I was so overwhelmed. But God gave me this verse to encourage and comfort me.

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (James 4:6 NIV)

More grace was exactly what I needed!

Overwhelmed moms be encouraged God has more grace for you. There is no bottom in the bucket of grace He has to pour out on you. Fall on your knees humble yourself and ask for more grace!

"Blessings", by Laura Story

My friend, Fran, emailed me this song today. Those of you who know her, know what a blessing she is! While I had heard the song before, I took a couple minutes to just be still, listen and watch.  I was so encouraged and refreshed by that short time spent in worship, reflection and prayer.  I pray that you, too, will be still, listen and watch. May our Lord encourage you and remind you that He is with you and your children through every tear, every trial, every disappointment, past, present and future. Ahh, the peace and joy that comes from this simple truth!

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. - Romans 8:28 NASB
